1 Month

A couple days ago Walter turned 1 month old.  I love going back and looking at pictures of him just days old and comparing them to him now- the change is insane! He is getting chunkier by the day and he's really starting to respond to different things.  Just yesterday Jesse and I were able to get a couple of little grins out of him and it was the cutest thing I have ever seen! I can't wait til he starts smiling all the time! At 1 month old Walter is:

• Still eating every hour to hour and a half
• Waking up about 4 times a night.  I put him down around 10 and he sleeps til about 1:30, he will then wake up at 3, 4:30 and 6- I'm getting pretty good at functioning with 4-5 hours of sleep
• He is awake from about 7 in the morning til 9 and then sleeps on and off til 1 or 2, stays awake for a couple hours and then sleeps from about 5 til 8 at night and is awake again until I put him down at 10
• He loves to cuddle- I have to make sure he is out cold before I put him down to sleep or he will get really upset and I'll have to cuddle him again til he falls asleep
• He is wearing size 1 diapers (and goes through those diapers like nobody's business) and is already wearing 3 month clothes
• He can hold his head up really well and loves being sat up so that he can show off how strong he is
• For the most part he loves riding in the car and loves being pushed around in the stroller

I absolutely love my little boy, I'm so glad that I am able to stay at home with him and just love on him all day, every day! He is the sweetest thing in the world.

4 Weeks

My little boy is already 4 weeks old and I can't believe it! He is getting so big and changing so much every day! He's to the point where he is becoming very animated in his facial expressions, he can hold his head up for quite a while on his own and he loves to try and sit up and stand up- he's getting so strong.  He is getting better at sleeping at night.  He still wakes up 3 or 4 times a night, but he eats and then goes right back to sleep.  I think that it's because I decided to try the whole swaddling thing again.  He has always fought being swaddled so we never really did it, but I decided to try it again and at first he fights it, but then he calms right down and goes to sleep and stays asleep for a couple hours at a time- which is really good for him.  I hope he keeps getting better and better at the night sleeping thing.  I am getting really good at surviving on just a few hours of sleep though.  We just moved into a bigger apartment, which we love, but none of the unpacking is getting done because all I do all day is hold my baby :) I can't get enough of him, he is such a good, chill baby who is totally fine with me just sitting and holding him all day- he doesn't necessarily have to be walked around and bounced all the time.  I just love him so much and he is growing way too fast for my liking!

3 Weeks

3 weeks old! That's almost a month! I can't believe it, it's gone by so incredibly fast and it makes me sad when I realize how fast he is growing up and changing.  He is such a sweetheart and loves to cuddle, which I love! I wish I could just sit and hold him all day every day.  His cord just barely fell off yesterday, which is good because he has almost grown out of newborn diapers and will need to start wearing bigger ones, and I'm sick of giving him sponge baths.  He's really started making eye contact with Jesse and me when we talk to him, it's adorable.  The whole sleeping issue hasn't changed, he still wakes up about every hour to hour and a half to eat and as soon as I try to put him back in his bassinet he wakes up and cries until I get him back out and let him cuddle with me in my bed.  He is getting so strong and can hold his head up for a few seconds on his own and he also loves to try and stand up.  I love this little boy more than I could have ever imagined loving someone, I'm so blessed to be his mama.

2 Weeks

Yesterday my little man turned 2 weeks old.  It is seriously going by way too fast.  This past week has been pretty hard.  For some reason he's been having a hard time eating, and when he does eat it's not for very long, so he's constantly hungry.  He also will have nothing to do with his bassinet.  The only way we get any sleep at night is if he sleeps in our bed with us.  I don't like doing that, it makes me nervous, but I end up doing it anyway to get a couple hours of sleep.  Other than those couple things he's still a very sweet baby.  He's getting really good at lifting his head and he's constantly wiggling and trying to move around on his own.  He's getting chubby cheeks and a major double chin, I love it!  We are completely in love with this little guy! Here's to sleeping and eating better!

Walter Goes to the Doctor

Walter has been to the doctor twice now.  He went for his 2 day check up and today he went for his 2 week check up.  He is very healthy and packing on the weight like crazy.  On Tuesday he was 7 lbs 10 oz and today, Friday, he was 8 lbs 1 oz! Even though he isn't noticeably growing yet, I get sad thinking about how he won't be a newborn pretty soon... he's so sweet and cuddly right now and I want him to stay that way forever! One thing they had to do today was the PKU test where they prick is his foot and draw blood for testing.  It made me so sad! Poor little guy was just sitting there all happy and then he got stabbed in the foot.  He did really good though.  As soon as they were done he calmed right down.  He really is such a good baby, I'm lucky. Now all we need to work on is getting him to sleep at night...
