My Pretty Pink Vacuum

This is my new pretty pink vacuum. I love it! I never thought that I would be excited about buying a vacuum, but I am excited about this vacuum for 2 reasons.
1. It is pink
2. We bought it because we are moving into our own apartment!!
We move in just over a week! We are so excited, but at the same time, we are both kind of clueless as to what we need, because neither of us have ever lived on our own. We did go last night and buy some of the essentials like silverware and a kitchen trash can and a toaster and my pretty pink vacuum :) I have a feeling that the first few weeks of living on our own are going to be pretty interesting because we will still be trying to figure everything out, but I am oh so excited!

Trip to the Renaissance Fair

Jesse and I took my brother Michael down to Cedar City this past weekend to go to the Renaissance Fair that they have down there every year. I have never been before, but I've heard Heather talk about all the fun things they have there so I really wanted to go, and it was so much fun! We got down there Friday afternoon and went to the Greenshow, because you can't go to Cedar in the summer and not go to the Greenshow at least once. We then
headed over to the Renaissance Fair where we saw some nasty belly dancers and really cool fire dancers
Us watching the fire dancersThen we walked around to all the tents that they had set up and just looked at all of the fun things people were selling.
On Saturday, we went to the Shakespearean Festival gift store headed back to the fair and bought a bunch of fun stuff. I got a new bag, a dream catcher to hang in my car, a dream catcher necklace, and some dream catcher earrings (I have no idea how I got so obsessed with dream catchers, but I love them). Jesse got a dagger, which was from the Shakespearean gift shop, and one of those magnetic bracelets that supposedly cure pretty much anything.
This was one of the camels they had that you could ride!
Saturday afternoon, we were all planning on going to Harry Potter, but my Uncle Al surprised Jesse and I with tickets to a play called Noises Off! for that afternoon, so while we went to the play, Heather and Michael went to Harry Potter. The play was hilarious! I had never heard of it before, but it was great!
Here we all are outside the gift store

And chillin with Shakespeare
Saturday evening we went back to the fair one last time and Micheal and Heather got henna tattoos and I got feather extensions in my hair :)
I couldn't get enough of the fair. All the people there were so interesting.. and strange, and there were so many fun things to look at- and buy :) It was definitely a very fun weekend!

4th of July

This 4th of July was a great day, full of eating and relaxing. Heather and Grandma Jones came up from Cedar City, and it was great to have the extra company here. We started our day at midnight the night before when Heather, Michael, Jesse and I went to reserve a spot for the parade in Kaysville. It's absolutely crazy just how many people go out a whole day before and reserve their spots for the parade, but we were able to find a tiny little square that was still open right by Davis High. The morning of the 4th, we headed back to Kaysville for the parade, which turned out to be nothing more than a bunch of car and trucks driving by with banners hanging off the sides of them. The highlight was the Davis High marching band that passed right at the beginning. It was still fun though. I think we all had more fun waiting for the parade to start :)
Dad enjoyed his handheld yahtzee game
Heather, Michael and dad
Heather and I being super pretty
And Jesse and I looking lovely :)
After the parade Jesse and I decided to go on our own little picnic, but it started to rain right as we went, so we ended up just going to a park and sitting in his truck to eat.. it was still fun though. For dinner dad made hamburgers on the grill and we made homemade root beer, yum!
We then went back to Kaysville for the fireworks at Davis High, and again, I think we had more fun waiting for them to start than anything..

And then we got pretty

And then Michael and I decided to plank
Happy 4th of July everyone!!!!!

A Boring Update...

There really is nothing new going on with us, hence a blog-less month...
Jesse and I have just been working a bunch, and getting sick of it :) but it's money, so we can't really complain.
Jesse is already getting excited for school to start, and we are still almost 2 months away from it. I, on the other hand, am getting kind of nervous about school starting up again. I am signed up for 18 credit hours, which is a ton for me! Because I fell behind the last couple semesters I'm now trying to catch up, so if I successfully finish this next semester, I will be completely done with my generals- finally! That is the only reason I've decided to load up on all those classes at once.
We are still planning on being in our own apartment by the end of this summer, but we haven't really started looking, so I guess we better start that process soon. We're hoping to find something cheap and semi-nice in the Layton/Clearfield area since both of up work in that area.
I have also started reading a bunch during the last few weeks, because there are so many books that I want to read and once school starts, there will be absolutely no time for leisurely reading. Along with that, I have decided to start a book blog.. It's nothing special because I am in no way a writer, but I thought it would be fun to keep track of the books I read and just a short review of each book, so if you want to read it it's jb-justbooks.blogspot.com
That's about it for now.. hopefully our life will become a little more entertaining as the summer goes on.

Honoring Grandpa Jones on Memorial Day Weekend

On Tuesday, May 24 my Grandpa passed away. He had been sick for quite a while and in a lot of pain due to compression fractures in his back, a leaky heart vaulve and internal bleeding of some sort. It's so hard to say goodbye to a Grandpa like him. I'm so happy to know that he is no longer in pain, but it's hard to know that he won't be there when we go to visit anymore. It breaks my heart to know that my Grandma is alone now too, but she has been so strong throughout this hard time.
This weekend was Memorial Day weekend; the perfect time to celebrate and reflect upon his life during the funeral services. On Saturday we had the viewing and the funeral service where my uncles (his sons) all spoke, highlighting different parts of Grandpa's life. I have so many memories of when we would go down to visit. I remember how he had a coo-coo clock that he would always set off for us grand kids. He would always make up some kind of story in order to get us to eat something weird, like orange peels and dates. He loved to collect stamps and coins and would give each of us state quarters to start our collections. Everytime we would visit, he would fuss over how we weren't eating enough, making sure we never went hungry.
On Tuesday (today) we had the burial service. Grandpa served in the Navy during WWII and so they had a traditional military salute, which was really neat to see. It was so great to be able to spend a weekend with almost the entire Jones side of the family and honor Grandpa. We will miss him so much but he is in a much better place!

Finally

I finally have a wedding band! So now I actually look like I'm married instead of just engaged. I've had a bunch of people ask me when I'm getting married when they see my ring, and my response is "5 months ago", so we decided that it was time to get me a band to go with my engagement ring. Its got diamonds and pink sapphires in it, and is oh so pretty!

Happy Mother's Day to Me!

Guess what I got for Mother's Day?!?!Surgery to remove my appendix!
It started yesterday morning when I woke up. I wasn't feeling too well and I had this weird pain in my lower stomach. I had to work at 8:30 but was hoping that I would be sent home early because I didn't feel very great. I was feeling ok during the morning at work and then I went to lunch and ate a sandwich, thinking that that would help my stomach to have something in it. I immediately felt 10 times worse, but I went back out and started working again. The pain slowly started getting worse and worse and my boss could tell that I was in a lot of pain, so she sent me home 4 hours early. I was able to drive myself home, but as soon as I walked in the door I fell on the ground doubled over in pain. My family was at a wedding reception for my cousin and Jesse was up doing yard work at his mom's house, so I was all alone and was kind of freaking out because the pain was getting to be so severe that I almost passed out. I was able to call Jesse and have him rush home. He took me straight to the emergency room where they proceeded to take blood samples and hook me up to an IV which they gave me morphine through. Once the pain subsided a little bit, they did a CAT scan on me and then pumped more morphine in me while we waited for the results. The doctor came into my room a little while later to announce that I had appendicitis! WHOO HOO! By then, my mom and dad had arrived and my dad and Jesse gave me a blessing. They wasted no time in getting me ready for surgery and by 7:30 I was knocked out and they were removing my guts. Jesse was so sweet and stayed at the hospital through the surgery and while I was in recovery. They kept me there overnight so that I could be monitored, and Jesse stayed the night with me. After the surgery, they showed me a picture of my appendix that they had just removed and it measured 12 cm... 3 times the size it's supposed to be! They released me this morning at about 9 o'clock and prescribed me some nice pain medication. So now I get to lounge around the house for the next week and take a week off work while my guts slowly heal... They hurt super bad! I was way sad to miss Mother's Day church because I would've been able to go to Relief Society with my mom instead of teach my Primary class, but oh well. Jesse did get me some very cute and comfy pajamas for Mother's Day that I will wear for the next week :) He has been so helpful already and has done everything for me. So that's my exciting story.
I hope that all mother's out there had a better Mother's Day than I did!! :)
