Sleeping Like A Baby

I am happy to report that after only 2 days Walter is pretty much sleeping through the night! Actually, it was more like only 1 day.  That first night that I blogged about previously was the only night that he cried! The last 2 nights, he has woken up a couple times, but has only whimpered for a few seconds and then has gone right back to sleep! I can't believe how quickly he has caught on, I am one proud mama! I think he knew how terribly awful that first night was for me and he didn't want to put me through that again :) So his sleeping at night has gone from him waking up 2-3 times a night to eat and being awake for the day at 6 or earlier to going to bed at 7, sleeping til about 5:30 or 6, eating, and then going back to sleep til 7:30! Sleeping til 7:30 has never felt so good! Well, I am going to stop now, because I have probably already jinxed myself by writing all of this, but I have just been so happy and excited! I know every night won't be this good, there will be some hiccups, but he's got the idea now, and that's what I care about :)

Crying Like A Baby

Last night Walter was crying, and I was crying, because I couldn't do anything about his crying.  Last night we decided it was time to try out the whole crying it out technique in order to get Walter to sleep better at night.  He went to bed just great, but then at 10:30 he woke up.  He fussed for a few minutes and then I thought he went back to bed... WRONG, he was just getting started! He cried, and he cried, and he cried, and he cried some more- he cried for an hour and a half! I felt like the worst mother on the planet! So I went into my room, and cried, and cried, and cried some more.  Jesse checked on him every 15-20 minutes, which just made him more upset once Jesse left the room again.  Poor little Walter finally fell asleep at midnight, and I made the unwise decision to go in and look at him.  He was so perfect, sucking on his thumb and holding his blankie- it made me feel even worse that I had just let him cry for that long, so I cried, and cried, and cried some more.  Then at 4:30, I heard him again, and I started freaking out.  There was no way I could let him cry like that again.  Luckily, he cried for maybe a minute and was back to sleep! And he slept til 6:30 this morning.  I was so happy to go in and get him, and he was just as happy to see me :) I know that we have to do this again tonight, I am just praying that it doesn't take an hour and a half again! That was seriously the hardest thing I have ever had to do!

8 Months

I love this little 8 month old! He has quite the personality, and is a good mix of everything really.  He's very determined and wants what he wants right then and there, he is super sensitive and cries at loud noises, when we scare him and pretty much every time he falls over when sitting up, he is so happy most the time and loves to laugh and smile.  He loves to be in his new bouncer that he got for Christmas, and he has gotten really good at bouncing.  A few more things about Walter at 8 months old:

  • He is wearing size 2 diapers and size 9 month clothes, Carters brand is really the only brand that fits him
  • He is taking 2 naps a day now
  • He is waking up once or twice a night- I think mainly because he is still in our room and we wake him sometimes, so this next month we are going to be transitioning him to his own room- something I am totally dreading :(
  • He is eating 3 meals a day, and still nursing in between.  He has fruit for breakfast, veggies for lunch and oatmeal for dinner
  • He loves drinking out of juice boxes with a straw
  • He is still attached to his blankie more than ever
  • He absolutely loves our kitty- even though she is a brat
  • He is so so so close to scooting, I think his head is just too big and he cant keep it up long enough to go anywhere
  • He is so ticklish
  • He does the cutest "squishy face" when he is upset, or sometimes he just does it just because
  • He has waved bye bye a couple times
  • He has given me open mouth kisses a couple of times
  • I always have the TV on during the day, just for background noise, and when certain commercials come on, he stops whatever he is doing and just stares at the TV with the biggest smile on his face until it is over. (You would think that his favorite commercials would be ones with music or something, which he has a couple of those, but then he also loves one of the quit smoking adds that show an open heart surgery going on and a drunk driving one- kinda random.)
Squishy face!

Loves his bouncer

 8 month photoshoot

He really is the sweetest little boy and has such a sweet spirit about him, I love him so much and am so lucky that he choose me as his mom :)

Gilmore Girls

Heather brought me the first few seasons of Gilmore Girls during Christmas break, and I've been watching them pretty much every day since.  Walter LOVES the theme song that plays at the beginning of every episode- he dances and smiles and laughs- it's the cutest thing in the world.  I got a couple videos capturing it- the first one is of him dancing a little bit and the second one is him just enjoying it :)
(excuse me singing in them- he likes it when I sing it to him)

Toothless No More

Guess who is getting his very first tooth?! Walter is!
He was chewing on a toy earlier today and every time he would bite down he would start to cry, so I looked in his mouth and sure enough, there was the very top of a tooth starting to poke through his gums.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm kinda sad that he is getting teeth now, I LOVE that toothless smile of his.
I know his smile will still be just as cute with teeth, but he is just growing up way too fast for my liking.
As soon as I saw that tooth, I grabbed the camera and got a couple final pictures of his toothless grin :)
I'm going to miss it.

I Have A Major Case of The Bieber Fever!

Heather and I went to the JUSTIN BIEBER concert on Jan. 5, and to say it was fantastic is a huge understatement! We were way high up, only like 10 rows from the very top of the Energy Solutions Arena, but it was still amazing! He is so beautiful! Carly Rae Jepsen opened for him- she was ok.  And then we waited for an hour for him to come out.  We were all getting super antsy and wondering what the heck was going on because it was taking FOREVER, but come to find out, he had postponed the concert in order to go visit a little girl at Primary Children's Hospital who has leukemia and who loves him- so adorable! Another reason I think he is so great :)  He put on a great show and I screamed and danced so much that afterwards I was exhausted and I realized that having a baby has aged me like ten years and I don't recuperate as well or as fast as I used to :) but it was worth it!

 Best $35 purchase I've ever made :)

Temple Square

This year we were able to go to temple square twice- once with my family and once with Jesse's mom. It was freezing but Walter did amazing both times!

Merry Christmas!

This Christmas was just great! It was so much fun spoiling Walter- even though he didn't really care and just wanted to play with all the wrapping paper! We woke up early Christmas morning and opened presents here before going to my parents house to open presents there.  After opening presents there, we went to Ogden to have dinner with Jesse's family and open more presents! We were all spoiled- especially Walter.  We had so much fun and it's really great having both families so close.

(These aren't even half the pictures we took that morning :) )
